Section-Biography:
Who will it be about? Well, I just heard one of their songs
for the first time on the radio the other day. Yes I know, I’m a slacker. The
lucky band will be Hozier! The song that I heard was obviously “Take Me To
Church”. I’m actually listening to it as I type. Also, it just mysteriously
appeared on my top ten list as number three. THAT right there is a big
accomplishment. Now, without further ado, I present you with Hozier’s
biography!
Hozier
Biography:
Hozier’s real name is Andrew Hozier-Byrne. He was born on
March 17th, 1990. He grew up in Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland. In
a way, he was destined to be a musician seeing as it runs in his family. That’s
right everybody! Andrew’s father was a musician. He started off with a music degree
at Trinity College Dublin. Andrew participated in the school’s orchestra. However,
he dropped out of college halfway through his first year in order to record music
for Universal Music (a studio). He started off his career in 2009 when he
joined the band Anúna. His voice was actually showcased in a song from their 2012
album, Illumination. He was a soloist
for the single “La Chanson de Mardis Gras”. I find this to be the major
training point in Andrew’s career and just like that, Hozier (the band) was
born. He released his EP Take Me to
Church. The single “Take Me to Church” was number one in Ireland and number
two on the OFFICIAL CHART on October 25th, 2013. Hozier released his
second EP From Eden shortly
thereafter. He sold out all of his shows in May this year in LESS THAN 15
MINUTES! Hozier will be releasing his debut album at the end of the summer. I
can’t wait to hear more of his music!
