And Now, The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For…
Let the games begin! I’m just kidding. For those of you who want to know what became of Birdy, here is the second half of her biography.

Birdy’s Biography:
Birdy started off by recreating songs done by other artists in order to get her name, and her voice, out there. She collected all of these songs together along with one original one into her debut album. It was released on November 7, 2011. It became wildly popular all over Europe. On December 21, 2011 she received a Golden Single in the Netherlands for selling more than 25,000 copies of her album! The next day, she received the same award in Belgium! Her debut album reached number one on Australia’s tracks in August 2012. “Skinny Love” and “People Help The People” were the top songs from this album. Over the course of the next two years, 2012 and 2013, Birdy contributed her music to many shows and movies. “Just A Game” was released in The Hunger Games soundtrack in March 2012. In June 2012, Birdy collaborated with Mumford and Sons to create the song “Learn Me Right” for the movie Brave. For this, she received her FIRST Grammy Award nomination! Her “Live In London” EP was released on August 7, 2012. It contained eight songs including “Just A Game”. Birdy performed her cover of “Bird Gerhl” in the opening of the Paralympic Games on August 29, 2012. On February 16, 2013 she sang at the most famous Italian music festival. This is just naming a few of her many accomplishments. These are the most essential to Birdy’s rise to fame. I love her songs, and I can’t wait to hear more!

What Time Is It?
Its biography time of course! I haven’t done one of these in FOREVER. This week’s will be for Birdy. I love her voice so much! Without further ado, I give you Birdy’s biography!

Birdy’s Biography:
First of all, Birdy’s real name is Jasmine van den Bogaerde. She was born in Lymington, Hampshire in the U.K. on May 15th, 1996. Fame seems to run in her family seeing as her mother is a concert pianist, and her great uncle was an actor. Jasmine learned how to play the piano when she was seven, and started to write her own music when she was eight. Her career started when she was just twelve! Jasmine’s stage name was just her nickname that her parents gave her. The only people that call her Jasmine are her teachers. Anyways, her career started in 2008 when she won the Open Mic U.K. talent contest. Birdy won in her category as well as the Grand Prize. She beat 10,000 people and performed her own song, “So Be Free”. When she was fourteen, she released a cover version of Bon Iver’s song “Skinny Love”. This became her first hit on the U.K. Singles Chart. It was number 17! This song has gone far. It received Record of the Week, was featured in two television shows, and was sung on the Ellen DeGeneres show live. Her career has continued to escalate since then. You’ll never know what has become of Birdy…until next time!

Random Information:
I’m back yet again! Spring break just ended. I did encounter alternative music in the weirdest places. The first time was when I went to visit my cousin. We were sitting in the front yard when a car pulled in across the street blaring “The Walker”. The second time was when I was eating breakfast at a hotel in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I can’t remember what the song was, but it was really random compared to the other songs that were being played. The third, and final, time was when I was at my grandma’s house on Easter. My cousins and I were playing soccer outside when all of a sudden, I heard “It’s About Time” playing! One of her neighbors was doing yard work while listening to the radio. Well, that’s all for now!

Welcome Back Everyone!
I hope that you enjoyed the something new that I posted last week. I just felt the need to change my blog up a little bit. I'll apologize in advance if my blog posts have been boring you. I do have some good news! I FINALLY got the time to look up new concert dates. That only took forever, but I posted almost all of the ones that I found. Seriously, the website listed concerts from tomorrow all the way up to June! I didn't feel the need to put those in there, so I'll update those when we get a little bit closer to that time of the year. Yay summer! Yes, the concert dates WILL be posted on time next time. Anyways, I suppose that I shouldn't keep you in suspense for much longer...the next section of my blog will be the Random News section! I know that you missed it! Next time that I update my blog, I will do a band's biography.

Random News:

I actually have a lot of exciting news for you this week on Music With Mal! Last week Friday, my school had a talent show. I'm in Show Choir and we sang "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay! We were the finale and everyone loved it! One of my friends sang "Skinny Love" by Birdy. I was EXTREMELY excited! The other song by Birdy that I included in my glorious list of favorite songs is "Just A Game". This song is from the Hunger Games Soundtrack. It's from the first movie. I was going through my iPod the other day, and I found it! If you haven't heard it, go listen to it. It's very catchy seeing as how I've been singing it to myself for about...four days now. It's almost as good as "Skinny Love" if not better. Well, that's all for now folks. See you next time!
