Cage the Elephant Biography:
“Come a Little Closer” is currently number six out of all of the alternative songs in the world. This is just one of several songs that are included in Cage the Elephant’s new album, MELOPHOBIA. This is their third album. Cage the Elephant consists of a lead singer, two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer. Matt Schultz is the lead singer, Daniel Tichenor is the bassist, Jared Champion is the drummer, and Brad Schultz and Lincoln Parish are the two guitarists. Cage the Elephant originated in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Their other two albums were released in 2008(Cage the Elephant) and 2011(Thank You, Happy Birthday). The band went on tour for five years after the release of these albums. They took some time off shortly after Thank You, Happy Birthday was released. Cage the Elephant got back together in August 2012 to work on their newly released album, MELOPHOBIA. All five members of the band have very different opinions and styles of music, so it was a challenge to put together their latest album. Their music has a very energetic and playful feel about it. My personal favorite of their songs is “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked”. “Come a Little Closer” is a close second however. The style of music that this band produces is most commonly described as a mix of Southern charm and chaotic energy. They have performed in concerts alongside alternative bands such as Muse, Foals, and Foo Fighters. Cage the Elephant is continuing to make incredibly catchy music, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of their album.
